Some men know more than God… apparently
I’ll commence with a story…
[begin]
I challenged Him:
“If you confirm right now, what I seem to be discerning from You all day, then that’s it. No more arguments.”
It was coming up on 6pm. Two verses had already struck me that day. In the morning I had read,
“Certainly I will be with thee.”
Exodus 3:12
And then moments earlier, my mum had requested that I read Spurgeon’s Checkbook of the Bank of Faith for that day. She knew nothing of what was going on, but when I looked it up, the verse was,
“The LORD shall guide thee continually.”
Isaiah 58:11
It was reading that verse which caused me to throw the challenge; throw out ‘the fleece’ as it were. Read more…
Flights Booked…We’re Gan Hame!
Just because something is inevitable, doesn’t necessarily make it any easier to prepare for. Does it?
Since the day we arrived in South Australia, we’ve been working away, knowing that it probably wouldn’t be forever.
The end is now in sight, and we’ll be leaving the Eyre Peninsula on the 16th of June, and arriving in Northern Ireland on the 3rd of July.

Who Are They?
“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.”
Matt 10:1-4
“And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles; Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes, And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.”
Luke 6:13-16
In the above two texts, I’ve highlighted the names of two individuals; James, and Judas (or Lebbaeus). What I want to discuss with you, is who are they? Read more…
The Most Powerful Woman in the World
Most people know exactly who Oprah Winfrey is…in a sense.
What I mean is, we know what we’re supposed to know, but we don’t really know her, do we?
I must admit, although I would never have been certain enough to say she is a Christian, I would have thought she would have been aware of the truth. She has a history in the Baptist church (not that that really means anything), and does quite a bit of good in this world with the money she has. Read more…
Quality vs. Convenience
It’s the greatest consumer issue of all time. At least, in the technology market.
I must admit, I love my gadgets. Not the stupid, useless gadgets, which have no purpose. I mean technology which serves a purpose. For some, it might be the latest power drill, or maybe the latest iron, which whizzes over the most wrinkled shirts in a jiffy (keep dreaming ladies)!
For me, it’s primarily a laptop and a camera.
Most of the regular readers are aware that I use a Canon 350d with two lenses. About 85% of the shots are taken through a Sigma 17-70mm, and the rest through a Sigma 70-300mm. They’re not as sharp as primes of course, but in a world dominated by digital compacts, it produces well above average images, and I love it.
Nevertheless, when I travel, along with clothes and all the other necessities, I’m lugging about an extra 2kg camera bag, full of extra batteries, a charger, etc. Admittedly, it’s a bit of a pain. Read more…
